The problem is one of recycling.
Nuclear waste is created matter. It doesn't have a "place" in Nature.
So it builds up, like plastic diapers in a land fill. The difference being that it is toxic with a half life of 50,000 yrs.
That means any given amount, would deteriate to 1/2 that amount in 50,000 yrs, with the element it dropped to
(on the periodic chart) being just as dangerous.

Everything in Nature is part of a circle of destiny, Nuclear materials are manmade and are not part of such a circle. Spreading them out with a little Americium 231 in everybody smoke detector, (BRC--below regulatory concern) doesn't solve the problem. Concentrating the waste in repositories such as "Yucca Mountain" creates the possibility of ground water contamination or over concentration may create Nuclear explosions. Any shipping of the wastes are a potential target for terrorists, or just plain accidents.

If we can't solve the problems here we should not take it with us to space.
The best place to fight Nuclear methods of
Human extermination by Corporations or Aliens, is on Wall street.
DON'T BUY STOCK IN BUSINESSES promoting Nuclear energy.
